For artist Sipho Mabona (@siphomabona) beauty lies in the abstract. “Fragments of crease patterns, which originally served as blueprints for origami sculptures, have become metaphors of what might have been,” he explains.⁣ ⁣ Sipho’s process uses natural dyes and cotton fabric, and he finds that solitary moments of creation in his studio are some of the best ways to find calm and focus throughout his days.

“When I was little, I took piano lessons for years and *hated* it,” says director Karen X (@karenxcheng). 😂⁣ ⁣ “I would fight with my mom about it constantly, always telling her how useless it was. But now as an adult, I’m really grateful that I learned, because being musical has opened up so many creative possibilities with video.”⁣ ⁣ “Lately, I’ve been really interested in the idea of making interactive Instagram stories,” explains Karen. “I found this ‘one note piano’ website where you could press any key on your keyboard and it would play the song — you just control the rhythm.
