I turned 27 this summer and Breonna Taylor should have too. This is a solid space to remind you that BREONNA TAYLOR was awoken from a night’s sleep and murdered in March. Her killers Jonathan Mattingly, Myles Cosgrove and Brett Hankison remain free and uncharged!!, and only the latter was fired. I feel like one great way to help empower womxn is to them alive— and we can start by not letting people get away with murdering Black womxn. 💫 go to JusticeForBreonna.org to keep going harder for Bre✨🕊
idk man, I’m not an expert on grief. I miss my buddy. a soul of pure light. so bright, such a quick learner and this kindness and playfulness that can reach through anything and transform it with a spark. this dude I could always level with — it hurts, a lot, and I’m thinking that’s because he carved out a beautiful space with a really powerful presence. now we get to keep that alive— please donate to @thecameronboycefoundation Happy 21st birthday Cam. You changed my life and you’re still changing the world
Allyship during race conversations by @ohhappydani — 👂LISTEN when people of color are sharing their experiences 🗣AMPLIFY the messages of people of color so their thoughts and ideas are heard in their own voice 👄 SPEAK when you witness injustice or have an opportunity to educate and advocate (whether that be through petitions, donations, phone calls, etc.) — -Demand justice for the life of #GeorgeFloyd by calling Mayor Jacob Frey at (612)-673-2100 and DA Mike Freeman at (612)-348-5550 — you can also go sign the petition in my story. — White people: our inaction is action, and this is dire. This is about the lives of our neighbors and the soul of our nation. This is about the past we were born from and the future WE get to build. If we aren’t fearlessly mindful of our privilege, active in educating ourselves, and intentional in our behavior to stay actively mindful of moving our lives and circles of influence in the right direction, we are complacent in a poisoned, homicidal system. This is a fait accompli. All I can control is my own lil world, so I’m committing to do what I can. 🤝 Will you?
There’s a lot going on. Whatever combination of circumstances and stressors you’re personally experiencing in this time, we can all agree that there’s a lot to navigate. We’re individually adjusting to a jarring upheaval of foundational systems in society. A lot of us are suddenly disconnected from the communities, activities, patterns and spaces which so deeply inform our identities. The collective voice seems to be an echochamber of change and a pressure cooker of fears, and many of us are sitting more closely than ever with our own thoughts. This can be super challenging, especially in navigating your mental landscape. I’m proud to stand with The Mental Health Coalition, to end the stigma against mental health conditions. It feels more important than ever that we be candid, honest, and sincere in sharing our individual experiences and challenges in this time, in an effort to promote acceptance and inspire hope. Together, and only together, we can make a difference in millions of lives. Please join me 💫 and share how you are, really. #howareyoureallychallenge @mentalhealthcoalition @howareyoureally
yesterday was my birthday, and this week has been a really beautiful illustration that isolation doesn’t have to be isolating. I’ve never felt closer to my family, my lover, and my friends. Reeeeal grateful this year for an incredible support system who challenge me and hold me down ✨ could get whiplash looking at some of the folks I’ve been
alright it’s kinda nice to have a break from (whatever we did out there?) social interaction or touching strangers’ faces or wearing clothes with zippers or makeup or styling your hair... sooo I’m taking some of this time at home to restore from all the heat damage. I got this #WonderWater for my shower; it’s this Lamellar rinse-out hair treatment that takes 8 seconds and makes your hair crazy shiny. If you blow it out after, it looks super sleek and silky. I’m avoiding heat rn and looook it made my natural texture so sparkly and healthy-looking ✨ I’m living in sweatpants with no haircut in sight during this quarantime, but we can polish up. I know everything’s weird and feels scary and useless but invest some love into yourself; you’re worth it. 💫 *I read this article on Byrdie about the Lamellar technology @lorealparis is using and how it only targets the damaged bits, it’s so clever google it #lorealparispartner
dude pre-ordering a book is like giving Your Future Self a surprise gift, in the form of a universe to slip into. and you know when you can’t stop watching or reading something but you want to make it last as long as possible because it’s so special you’re already sad you can’t experience it for the first time ever again? perfect, and I know everyone’s been stayed buzzing about it but Lansky’s new book Broken People properly rocked me 🪐💚💜 @samlansky
please please take two minutes to reach out to our neighbors in Australia. I put a link in my bio to a list of ways we can help — supporting the volunteer firefighters, donating funds and supplies, wildlife rescue, even temporary housing for those displaced by the fires. here are some of my favourite memories and people from there
