Wasn’t a bad day in the Q to join my friend @TaikaWaititi for this special series. Even better to be joined by women who inspire me like @oliviawilde @beaniefeldstein & @tessamaethompson . I’m still overwhelmed to be a part of such a star studded cast! We’re raising money for @partnersinhealth, who are fighting COVID-19 in some of the most vulnerable parts of the world. Go watch the full story! youtube.com/roalddahl #TaikaAndFriends
It all looks great once we get to the carpet, but this was our journey to the Met Gala on this day last year. My scepter broke in the lobby of the hotel, some stranger gave us a glue gun, and I had a 10lb hair piece clipped to my head. We don’t always have to feel or be perfect to look 100 !
Tune in this Thursday for a virtual screening of The Story Of Plastic followed by a live Q&A with me and Annie Leonard, the executive director of Greenpeace USA and author of The Story Of Stuff. For the past month @MyEcoResolution has been exploring waste & consumerism, getting our heads around our obsession with stuff and its impact on people and the planet. Join us for a discussion and bring your questions! Register to Zoom via bio link @MyEcoResolution • @greenpeaceusa @storyofstuff @annie_leonard #MyEcoResolution #Greenpeace #StoryofStuff #5RCHALLENGE

#MyEcoResolution is to stop eating meat Over the past month @MyEcoResolution has been deep diving into food and farming. So far we have learnt that food production is the single biggest impact humans have had on the planet’s ecosystems to date. Food is responsible for more than 80% of deforestation, 70% of fresh water consumption, is the largest single cause of biodiversity loss, and produces more than 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions (not to mention soil erosion, animal rights, pesticides and packaging). On top of that, 30% of food produced is wasted before it even reaches our plates - this 30% is enough to solve world hunger AND account for the 2 extra billion people expected by 2050. Over the next few weeks we are going to be exploring the solutions and how each of us can take action in our own lives and mobilise our communities to inspire systemic change. Over the next 10 months EcoResolution will dive deep into 10 key challenge areas of climate change - unpacking the root causes, showcasing solutions, and championing the trailblazing individuals driving change. We are going on a journey of climate action - from behavioural change to systems change, tokenism to transformation. The climate and ecological crisis is the greatest threat we’ve ever faced, and the future of life on our planet is at stake. Yet this crisis is the symptom of broken systems. We need to reinvent so much of how we live in the 21st century. This can feel hugely overwhelming - it’s easy to feel powerless, and too small to make a difference. Yet if we can step up, rather than shut down, there is an exciting invitation before us. To ignite individual initiative - to lead the change, beyond buying better reusable coffee cups. Make your #EcoResolution and join the eco revolution! I started @MyEcoResolution with @advaya.co as a way to wield my platform for good. To inspire others to learn, share, and pledge their commitments for the planet. And do so from a place of humility. There is much I have to learn about these global challenges - and even more that I need to change in my own life. Yet we can’t allow fear of scrutiny to keep us stuck in place. We may all be complicit, but we all have the power to lead the solutions, too. With this campaign, I’m going on a journey with people from every corner of the world. We need to hear the calls from those on frontlines, those who are most vulnerable to the worst effects of the climate crisis - and who are generally the least responsible. We need to listen to the indigenous communities around the world and stand united with them. Join me today in becoming a Koala Hero by supporting the #KoalaComeback Campaign! This powerful image, called ‘Survivor’ comes from photographer @davidyarrow, who has launched the campaign with @wild.ark to raise $2 million to support recovery efforts in Australia. Either make a small donation (see link in bio for @davidyarrow ) to receive and share a digital print and help make this campaign go viral or donate from $1,000 to purchase a Yarrow fine art print. Fifty percent of the proceeds raised through this campaign will be directed to @earthalliance ’s Australia Wildfire Fund, and WildArk will use the remaining donations to support local organizations working on wildlife rehabilitation and habitat restoration. "The day in Australia when I saw 500 dead animals for every live one will remain with me forever,” Yarrow said. “This is a call to arms and we are blessed with a celebrated army of passionate conservationists. I hope that this photograph of a lone koala I found sitting dumbfounded at the base of a tree, which we are calling ‘Survivor,’ becomes known and emblematic of a period in time when we all became aware of our planet’s deep fragility—and that it can help us raise money to make a difference.” @global_wildlife_conservation
